Birth Certificate
Anyone who was born in the City of Royal Oak may purchase their birth certificate through the Clerk's Office. You may come in person and pick them up the same day or send us a mail-in request. For newborn babies, it usually takes two weeks before we receive the information from William Beaumont Hospital for us to process the certificates. Anytime after that, we have the birth certificates on file here in the office. Photo identification is required for requests by mail and in person.
Mail-In Requests
For mail-in requests, parents must complete and submit our Mail-In Birth Certificate Request Form (PDF). Parents will need to provide the child's full name, date of birth, mother's maiden name and a money order made payable to the City of Royal Oak. Also, they need to send us an address to mail the birth certificates to. The process time for this is approximately 7 - 10 days. If you require faster service, overnight your request to us and include a return overnight envelop addressed to you, and upon receiving the request, we will process and mail it to you the same day.
Online Requests
To apply for a birth certificate online, you will need to upload a copy of your photo id. Once your application has been approved, you will be emailed a payment form with a link to pay. Upon completion of payment, we will mail out your certified birth certificate. Online Birth Certificate Request
