Construction Project Updates

Residents on affected streets were mailed construction notices in the Spring with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

SOCWA Contractor: Verdeterre Contracting, Inc.

City Contractor: Pamar Enterprises, Inc

This project includes work in conjunction with the South Oakland County Water Authority, Michigan Department of Transportation and the Road Commission for Oakland County.

14 Mile Road will be under construction for most of the 2019 construction season, with traffic often limited to one lane in each direction. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during construction, especially during rush hour. For more information regarding the complete scope of the project, visit: www.romi.gov/14Mile

The week of May 27th, SOCWA's contractor will continue working on restoration.

The city's contractor will continue transferring water services to the recently completed new water main. This requires a brief shut off (approximately 20 minutes) and property owners will be notified via door hanger in advance.

The contractor also plans to complete the final connections of the new water main sections. Residents will be notified the day beforehand via door hanger if they will be affected by any required water shut-offs.

Cooper Avenue will remain closed at 14 Mile Road until the final connection is made and concrete is poured back for the east half of the roadway.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.

The week of May 27th, the city's contractor will pour a section of the north side of Nakota Road and continue preparing other sections for new pavement.

On Fernlee Avenue the contractor plans to pour half of the intersection at Samoset Road later in the week.

Minimal construction activities will occur on the other project streets this week.

CAP1905 Concrete Pavement Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Inc.

The contractor tentatively plans to begin pavement removals on the project streets the week of May 27th, likely later in the week, beginning on Lexington Blvd. If driveway access will be affected, residents will receive a notice via door hanger the day beforehand. The contractor will only work on one side of the lane at a time, to maintain access for residents.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries Inc

The week of May 27th, the contractor plans to mill the existing road surface of the Phase 1 streets, likely towards the end of the week, weather permitting.

The contractor also plans to begin concrete work on the Phase 2 streets, beginning on Fernwood Road, Lockwood Road and Woodcrest Drive. The contractor will work on the east side of the roadways first and any residents who will lose driveway access will be notified via door hanger in advance.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.

The week of May 27th, the contractor will be testing the newly installed water main on Albert Avenue. The contractor plans to continue preparing the roadway of Judson Avenue for paving. Work is also tentatively scheduled to begin on Normandy Road.

CAP1806 S. Campbell Road Resurfacing

10 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road

Contractor: Iafrate Construction Company

The week of May 27th, the contractor plans to continue lawn restoration along S. Campbell Road.
