Construction Project Updates

Residents on affected streets were mailed construction notices in the Spring with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

SOCWA Contractor: Verdeterre Contracting, Inc.

City Contractor: Pamar Enterprises, Inc

This project includes work in conjunction with the South Oakland County Water Authority, Michigan Department of Transportation and the Road Commission for Oakland County.

14 Mile Road will be under construction for most of the 2019 construction season, with traffic often limited to one lane in each direction. The week of May 20th, SOCWA's contractor will continue working on restoration, including restoring the staging area at Maudlin Park. They will also be working in the median at Coolidge Highway.

The city's contractor will begin transferring water services to the recently connected new water main. This requires a brief shut off (approximately 20 minutes) and property owners will be notified via door hanger in advance. The contractor also plans to perform testing on the other sections of new water main and tie-in a new water main section at Cooper and Mankato. Residents will be notified the day beforehand via door hanger if they will be affected by any required water shut-offs.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.

The city's contractor will begin transferring water services to the new water main on W. Houstonia Avenue the week of May 20th. This requires a short water shut off (typically about 20 minutes) and residents will be notified in advance.

On Nakota Road, the contractor will continue pavement removals and preparing the roadway for paving throughout the week.

The west side of Fernlee Avenue has been poured. It is tentatively scheduled to be re-opened to traffic by Thursday May 23rd, and the contractor will begin pavement removals on the east side of the roadway.

CAP1905 Concrete Pavement Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Inc.

The contractor plans to begin pavement removals on the project streets the week of May 20th, beginning on Lexington Blvd. If driveway access will be affected, residents will receive a notice via door hanger the day beforehand. The contractor will only work on one side of the lane at a time, to maintain access for residents.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries Inc

The contractor plans to finish all underground work on the project streets and begin adjusting sewer structures for the new roadway the week of May 20th. Concrete work will continue on the east side of Josephine and Baker next week, once the west side is complete.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.

Pavement removals will continue on Albert and Judson the week of May 20th. The contractor also plans to install the new water main on Albert during the week. Residents will be notified the day beforehand via door hanger if they will be affected by any water shut offs.

Water services will be transferred to the new water main on Rockingham Road during the week. This requires a short water shut off (typically about 20 minutes) and residents will be notified in advance.

CAP1806 S. Campbell Road Resurfacing

10 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road

Contractor: Iafrate Construction Company

The week of May 20th, the contractor plans to continue lawn restoration along S. Campbell Road.
