Construction Project Updates

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1806 S. Campbell Road Resurfacing

10 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road

Contractor: Iafrate Construction Company

The east half of S. Campbell Road will remain closed for several weeks during the first phase of construction, and traffic is currently shifted to the west side of the road.  One lane is open in each direction.  The following left turns are not allowed during this phase of construction:

• Northbound and southbound Campbell Road at 11 Mile Road
• Westbound Lincoln Avenue at S. Campbell Road

All side streets that are currently closed between 10 Mile Road and Lincoln will be opened by Monday July 30th.
 
The contractor will close all driveways on the east side of the road between Lincoln Avenue and Fourth Street starting on Monday July 30, and residents will receive a door hanger beforehand with this information. 
 
Landscapers will begin back-filling most areas between the sidewalk and curb on the east side of the road between 10 Mile Road and Lincoln Avenue starting the week of July 30th.

CAP1808 N. Main Street Resurfacing

11 Mile Road to Gardenia Avenue

Contractor: Pro-Line Asphalt Paving Corp.

Traffic is currently shifted to the west side of N. Main Street, with one lane open in each direction.  Left turns are prohibited at Catalpa/Gardenia and at 11 Mile Road for vehicles traveling north and south.

The contractor has completed paving the east half of the roadway and will be switching traffic to the east half of the road on Friday July 27th.  The contractor plans to adjust structures on the west half of the road starting on Saturday July 28th and will prepare to pave the west half of the road throughout the week. 
 
This project is scheduled to be completed by the second week in August.

CAP1720 Royal Oak Roadway Rain Gardens

Contractor: Anglin Civil, LLC

The Royal Oak Roadway Rain Gardens project will take place this summer within the median of E. Fourth Street between S. Blair Avenue and S. Connecticut Avenue.  The project is funded by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s Non-Point Source Program, which provides grants to reduce water pollution and protect Michigan’s water resources.

Four rain gardens will be installed along the outer edges of the median and will be planted with native perennial plantings.  Rainwater from the roadway will drain into the rain gardens to help keep water out of the city’s sewer system. 
 
Construction will take place in August and September 2018 and is not expected to affect residential yards or private property.  There will be temporary lane width restrictions on E. Fourth Street, but traffic will be able to use the roadway throughout construction.  The contractor plans to begin mobilizing during the week of July 30th.

CAP1815 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.

The project is divided into three phases:

All paving is now complete with the exception of areas needing additional repairs.  Repairs are tentatively planned for early to mid August.  The restoration crew is scheduled to finish Phase 1 streets and to move on to Phase 3 streets afterward.
 
The contractor will be applying a rejuvenating agent to the surface of all the streets to help extend the pavement life.  There is not a date scheduled for this work yet, but the contractor will put “No Parking” signs in place the day before so that all vehicles are off the new pavement.

CAP1835 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.

Woodland Avenue - Webster Road to Glenwood Road

Work on this street is complete except for restoration.  Restoration is scheduled for this fall. 

Bonnie View Drive - Lloyd Avenue to Northwood Boulevard

Work on this street is complete except for restoration.  Restoration is scheduled for this fall. 

Yorba Linda Boulevard - Fairlawn Avenue to Springer Avenue

Work on this street is complete except for restoration.  Plantings for the rain garden will not be installed until after Labor Day.

Parkway Drive - Normandy Road to Woodward Avenue

Linwood Avenue - Webster Road to Glenwood Road

Work on this street is complete except for restoration.  Restoration is scheduled for this fall. 

Delaware Avenue - E. Kenilworth Avenue to E. Harrison Avenue

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Company, Inc.

The contractor will continue concrete work in the area east of Woodward Avenue and south of 13 Mile Road, as well as a few miscellaneous areas south of 12 Mile Road and east of Main Street.

The contractor will attempt to allow for on-street parking for the streets immediately off of Woodward for the Dream Cruise, but is not yet sure what streets will be available for parking.

CAP1822 Non-Motorized Improvements

Contractor: Warren Contractors & Development, Inc.

The contractor has closed the outside lanes of N. Main Street from Euclid Avenue (south of 12 Mile Road) to Normandy Road, with one lane open in each direction.

The contractor will continue pouring concrete curbing and small areas of pavement during the week of July 30th.
