Construction Season Begins

CAP1806 S. Campbell Road Resurfacing

10 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road

This project is currently being bid through the Michigan Department of Transportation.  Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin towards the end of May.

CAP1808 N. Main Street Resurfacing

11 Mile Road to Gardenia Avenue

Contractor: Pro-Line Asphalt Paving Corp.

This project is scheduled to begin during the week of May 7th, likely towards the end of the week.  The contractor will shift traffic to the east side of the road, with one lane open in each direction.  Access to all businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

CAP1815 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.

The project is divided into three phases:

The contractor is working on Phase 1 streets.  They have completed curb work on N. Vermont Avenue and N. Blair Avenue, and will continue curb removals and replacements on N. Altadena Avenue during the week of May 7th.  The contractor is now including N. Rembrandt Avenue in Phase 1 and will begin curb work during the week of May 7th.  The contractor tentatively plans to mill the roadways in Phase 1 towards the end of the week.

CAP1835 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.

Woodland Avenue - Webster Road to Glenwood Road

The contractor has completed testing of the water main on Woodland Avenue.  The contractor is connecting the new water main pipe to the city’s water system on Friday May 4th and all residents were notified of the water shutoffs via door hanger the day beforehand.
 
During the week of May 7th the contractor will be transferring each property’s water service to the new water main.  This will require a short water shutoff at each property, approximately 30 minutes to an hour long.  Due to the unknown timing of the temporary shutoffs, the contractor will knock on doors to notify residents before turning off the water.

It is fairly common for brown or cloudy water to appear after a water main shut off.  While unappealing, it is not dangerous and can be corrected by flushing the water for a few minutes.  To learn more, visit our informational page: https://www.romi.gov/870/Why-Is-My-Water-Cloudy

Bonnie View Drive - Lloyd Avenue to Northwood Boulevard

The contractor has paved the remainder of Bonnie View which will be closed to traffic for approximately one week. The contractor will return to place the remaining driveways once the road is open to traffic.

Yorba Linda Boulevard - Fairlawn Avenue to Springer Avenue

The contractor has removed the pavement to allow for water main installation.  Once the water main work on Woodland Avenue is complete, the contractor will begin installation on Yorba Linda.  This is tentatively planned for the week of May 14th.

Parkway Drive - Normandy Road to Woodward Avenue

Linwood Avenue - Webster Road to Glenwood Road

Delaware Avenue - E. Kenilworth Avenue to E. Harrison Avenue

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Company, Inc.

The contractor will be saw-cutting the project streets starting in May.  Pavement removals and concrete pavement will not begin until late May or early June.  

CAP1822 Non-Motorized Improvements

The city will be installing signage and striping for a north-south bike route through the city.  The bike route begins at Washington Avenue and 10 Mile Road, extends north to Euclid Avenue, then east to N. Main Street, and finally north the city limits.  Where there are currently four lanes of traffic, the street will be reduced to a 3-lane roadway, with one lane of traffic in each direction, a center turn lane, and bicycle lanes on each side of the road.  This project is expected to begin in June.
