Winter Guide

Monday is Presidents Day!

  • City Hall and other city facilites are open on Monday, Feb. 16.
  • ON-STREET and LOT PARKING is FREE on Monday, Feb. 16 in Downtown Royal Oak in observance of Presidents Day. (Normal rates apply in public parking decks,)
  • There is no interruption in trash/recycling collection.
Parking Map

Beginning Monday, Feb. 16, the City’s civic complex parking lots—those adjacent to City Hall, the Police Department, the Courthouse, and the Farmers Market—will join the new ParkMobile system and become paid lots.

We know, paying for parking isn’t anyone’s favorite thing—but enforcing these lots was always the plan. It eliminates misuse of the lots and keeps them open for the people the spaces are intended for: our visitors!

  • Parking for City Commission meetings will still be free! Our Commission values civic involvement above all else, so we’re happy to report that parking in these lots will be free from 6 p.m. through the end of the night on all Commission Mondays!
  • Parking during Saturday Farmers Market hours has always been and will remain free! The lots will not be enforced Saturdays before 2 p.m.
  • Free parking is still available! The 11 Mile parking garage, located just across the Commons, is free for the first two hours.

Questions? That’s what we’re here for. Visit https://www.romi.gov/1553/Parking-in-Downtown-Royal-Oak for more info + FAQ, or leave us a comment and we’ll be happy to answer.

Road Closure

The City will be repairing a water main break on North Campbell Road at Forest Avenue on Saturday, Feb. 14, from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During this time, the roadway will be closed to traffic to allow crews to complete the work safely and efficiently. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible. Detour signage will be posted to guide motorists around the closure.

Residents in the immediate area may experience temporary brown or discolored water, which is common during water main repairs. If this occurs, please run cold water until it clears.

  • Visit the Royal Oak Farmers Market and pick out ingredients to cook together.  Don’t miss the Hearts & Flowers Craft Show on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
