eCities Honored Community

UM-Dearborn College of Business iLabs has named Royal Oak a 2025 eCities Honored Community for helping Michigan grow and succeed. Royal Oak received this honor along with the cities of Hamtramck, Sterling Heights, and Wixom.

The award highlights Royal Oak’s work to build a cleaner and smarter city. This includes projects like saving energy with LED streetlights, planting more trees, adding electric vehicles to the city fleet, and working toward becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

Royal Oak was also recognized for using new technology, like smart public restrooms, interactive park kiosks, public Wi-Fi, and data tools that help support local businesses and improve city planning.

Royal Oak continues to look ahead and invest in a strong, healthy future for the community.
