Free Skate Day

The Rink at Royal Oak's last FREE School Skate Day is happening Wednesday, Feb. 4 and it comes with an important cause. To skate for free, families are asked to bring three cans or boxes of non-perishable food per skater (kids and parents welcome!).

  • All donations will support Forgotten Harvest and help neighbors facing food insecurity across Metro Detroit.
  • Royal Oak students and families showed up big last year and with recent cold temperatures and added challenges for many households, the need is greater than ever.

Bonus: It’s forecasted to be the warmest day in a while, so let’s lace up, hit the ice, and help warm hearts (and pantries) this winter.

Food must be non-perishable.

Pipes

Cold temps = frozen pipe season. When temperatures dip close to zero, City Hall tends to get a flurry of calls about frozen pipes. Consumers Reports has a good article that shares simple, smart strategies to help protect your pipes before the deep freeze hits. Read the article online.

A few minutes of prep now can save a whole lot of headaches later.
