Gleaners Food Drive

The Royal Oak Public Library has partnered with Gleaners Community Food Bank to collect non-perishable food items for those in need. The donation box is located in the library's park entrance lobby through December 5.

Gleaners is particularly requesting protein-rich foods such as canned chicken, tuna, beans, peanut butter and protein drinks. Hearty soups and canned fruits and vegetables are also needed, as are oatmeal and healthy cereal.

DONATE ONLINE

Hey Small Spender, spend a little time with us.

Hey, Small Spender: Small Business Saturday is almost here!

On Saturday, Nov. 29, downtown Royal Oak is rolling out deals, giveaways, pop-ups, and special experiences to celebrate the local entrepreneurs who make our city feel like home.

Here’s what’s happening:

Free Royal Oak Canvas Totes: Pick one up at participating businesses while supplies last.

Social Happy Hour (11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m.): Swing by Dessert Oasis or Pronto for meetups, giveaways, and good vibes.

Exclusive Deals All Over Downtown: Shops, salons, cafés, boutiques — you’ll find one-day offers everywhere you turn.

Got Downtown Dollars? Use them at select locations (look for the asterisk on the list).

Why Shop Small?

Because your investment goes right back into the community — supporting the makers, owners, dreamers, and doers who make Royal Oak unique.

Leaf Collection

Curbside Leaf Collection is Underway

  • Check the leaf collection tracker to see when crews will be in your neighborhood.
  • Keep cars off the street when No Parking signs are up — our leaf trucks need room to work! (Note: 'No Parking Signs' for Monday's collection area will be placed on Friday.)
  • And please—leaves only! Sticks, rocks, and debris can damage the vacuums and slow everything down.
  • Or skip the raking marathon altogether and “Leave the Leaves” in your garden beds! They make great natural mulch and a cozy winter home for pollinators.

Whether you rake or reuse, let’s keep Royal Oak beautiful this fall!
