Dream Cruise DOs and DON'Ts

The Dream Cruise is ready to roll from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. this Saturday.

Here’s a list of DOs and DONT's for the world’s largest celebration of classic car culture:

DON’T use the median to watch the event. Medians must remain clear for law enforcement vehicles and ambulances.
DON’T bring alcohol to the event. The alcohol-free policy is strictly enforced.
DON’T block the sidewalk with your lawn chair or bike. Sidewalks must remain clear at all times.
DON’T drive recklessly or carelessly or you WILL be ticketed. This is a family-friendly event.
DO use caution to make it safe for all.
DON’T block driveways if you park in the neighborhoods. Please be courteous.
DO bring sunscreen and water if you plan to spend the day at the event.
DO heed weather warnings! In 2011, a line of torrential rains barreled through Royal Oak leaving throngs of spectators seeking shelter.

Dependable Energy Listening Tour – Final Stop!

The Michigan House Energy Reliability, Resilience, and Accountability (ERRA) Task Force's statewide listening tour, addressing concerns after February's prolonged power outages, is concluding. Their final stop is right here in our area next week.

Elected officials from Federal, State, County, and City levels will be present, underscoring the event's significance.

Free Tree Planting Program

Contribute to the greener future of our hometown when you request a FREE tree to be planted in the easement in front of your home. Participating in the fall tree planting program is easy! Simply go to online request form and select one tree from the list, and let us know your choice via the online request form.

ABE charity preview to benefit the Royal Oak Civic Foundation

Arts, Beats & Eats will host a special charity preview to benefit the Royal Oak Civic Foundation. The special fundraising event will happen at 5th Avenue, Royal Oak’s iconic hotspot and multi-level event venue. Premium patio and deck seating for event sponsors is wrapped together with an adjacent street party on 5th Street for a unique indoor-outdoor sneak peek of festival highlights.

The food truck rally happens every month at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. Enjoy more than eight food trucks, face painting, balloon art, crafts table for the children, and local vendors selling their homemade items.

The new City Commission chamber offers an assistive listening solution that delivers clarity to those struggling to hear in a big room that can at times be crowded. The device (shown in the photo) is easy to use.

If you are interested in trying one, please call the Human Resources Department at 248-246-3070 in advance of any meeting you are planning to attend. We’ll be happy to have a listening device ready and waiting for you!

Residential Lock Boxes Available at the Fire Department

The Royal Oak Fire Department’s residential lockbox program is designed to get quick access to adults living in their own homes during medical emergencies -- especially senior citizens. When every second counts, the lockbox -- which contains a key to your home -- reduces the likelihood of property damage caused by first responders forcing entry into your home in response to an emergency call.
