The Water Residential Assistance Program provides funding to eligible, low income households. Funding is provided by the Great Lakes Water Authority and is administered in partnership with local community action agencies.

The United Way for Southeastern Michigan is the program administrator for Water Residential Assistance Program (WRAP) in Oakland County. All residents seeking WRAP services in an Oakland County community should apply through United Way.

Below is a quick snapshot of WRAP:

Bill Credits - The recently launched WRAP Income Based Plan (IBP) provides bill credits that are unique to each household and are based on annual household income and annual water and sewer bill amount. Households are expected to pay the remaining portion of their bill.
Arrearage Assistance - Eligible households that have a past due balance are eligible to receive up to $1,200 in arrearage assistance upon enrollment. Additionally, households may be eligible to receive an additional amount up to $1,200 in year two of WRAP.
Conservation Measures - Enrolled households are eligible to receive up to $2,000 in conservations measures, such as a home water audit, minor plumbing repairs, and educational information regarding water usage. With an emphasis on creating a healthy home, households can receive repairs on leaking or nonfunctioning plumbing and other water fixtures to create a safe and livable home.
Other Benefits - Case management empowers WRAP service delivery partners (United Way) to work directly with households in reviewing their progress in making payments. Service delivery partners can also provide the household with access to additional wraparound services.

Senior Center Update

Earlier this week a small fire was contained at the M/M Senior Center. No one was hurt, but as a precaution and to allow for cleaning, the M/M Center was closed.

The building is expected to reopen Monday for regular business, classes, and meals. Please check romi.gov on Monday, for details.

Winter Blast Date Change

The organizers of Winter Blast Royal Oak announced this week that they are moving the dates of the outdoor, winter-themed festival back two weeks due to projected frigid temps headed to metro Detroit. Winter Blast Royal Oak is now scheduled to take place in downtown Royal Oak Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19.

All of the festivities will surround The Rink at Royal Oak at Centennial Commons located between Main and Troy streets and 11 Mile Road and 3rd Street.

Warm Up!

With temps dropping into single digits the next few days, the Royal Oak Public Library is open to those needing warmth.

The library is open Friday and Saturday from 9 AM-6 PM; and Sunday 1 PM to 5 PM.

When are property taxes due?

The December tax bill is due and payable through February 14 (Valentine's Day) without penalty. A 3 percent penalty will be added after February 14.

Beginning March 1, all delinquent taxes must be paid to the Oakland County Treasurer with additional interest and penalties.

You can pay your property taxes by phone, mail, in person, online, or through your bank. Discover your options.

Abraham Lincoln the Man Opening

Join the Royal Oak Historical Society Museum, 1411 W Webster Rd, for the grand opening of the 'Abraham Lincoln, The Man' exhibit on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Residential Lock Boxes Available at the Fire Department

The Royal Oak Fire Department’s residential lockbox program is designed to get quick access to adults living in their own homes during medical emergencies -- especially senior citizens. When every second counts, the lockbox -- which contains a key to your home -- reduces the likelihood of property damage caused by first responders forcing entry into your home in response to an emergency call.
