14 Mile Road map

Beginning early 2019, the City of Royal Oak will be upgrading the water main on 14 Mile Road between Woodward Avenue and Cooper Avenue and between Mankato Avenue and CN Railroad. In conjunction with the project, SOCWA will be rehabilitating their transmission water main from Greenfield Road to west of Fernlee Avenue.

As the water main improvement projects come to completion, the 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements project will tentatively begin in June and have a completion date in November.  The construction limits are from Greenfield Road to Crooks Road.

In addition to the road resurfacing project, the RCOC will be upgrading the traffic signal at 14 Mile Road and Greenfield Road, and MDOT will be upgrading the traffic signals at 14 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue.

During construction, alternate routes are strongly suggested. On 14 Mile Road, traffic will be intermittently shifted to one side of the road with one lane open in each direction.  The city expects motorists will experience heavy back-ups, especially during rush hour.

The contractors awarded to the project are Pamar Enterprises for the City of Royal Oak and Verdeterre Contracting for SOCWA.

The city has also authorized areas of Maudlin Park and Upton Park for use as staging areas for equipment and materials. Residents adjacent to the park were mailed notices.
