Hands, Helen, age 94, former St. Clair Shores resident, died September 29, 2014 in Fort Gratiot, Michigan. She was born April 25, 1920 in Windsor, Ontario. She moved to Detroit in 1940 when she married David Hands, later becoming a US citizen. In 1945, she moved to St. Clair Shores until declining health prompted her move to Barss Long Term Residential Care Facility in Fort Gratiot in 2012. Mrs. Hands worked for Cunningham Drug and Fruehauf Trailer in Detroit, before beginning employment at Ford Motor Company’s Paint & Vinyl Operations in Mt. Clemens, where she worked as a secretary for 23 years. Mrs. Hands was an avid sailor & First Mate, loyal hockey mom and Detroit Red Wings fan. She was a member of the Knit Wits Too Circle of Grosse Pointe Congregational Church. Mrs. Hands was predeceased by David Hands, her husband of 50 years. She is survived by her children, David Hands (Lori Zurvalec) and Karen Uhlman, and grandchildren David Stanley and Alexander Hands; Heidi and Victor Uhlman, sister-in-law Olive Bateman, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.Visitation Friday October 10 from 2-9 p.m. at A.H.
