Fay, Pearl Ella, of Washington Township, died peacefully at Evangelical Home in Sterling Heights on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Pearl was born on March 19, 1925 in Mount Clemens, Michigan a daughter of Walter A. and Rose (nee Lueth) Papist. On October 6, 1945, Pearl married Norman Engelbrecht; they were married for 37 years before Norman was called home to be with the Lord. Pearl married Luke Fay on June 6, 1987 but he was also called home after just being married for 13 years. She worked for 27 years at Macomb County Farm Bureau Insurance as the office manager. Pearl was a very active member of her church, St. Peter Lutheran in Macomb Township. She was a member of St. Peter’s Women’s Ministry and Washington Golden Agers. Pearl was a member and secretary of St. Peter’s 60+ Club and Ray Township Seniors. She was a giving person and volunteered her time at the Red Cross for 20 years. Pearl was an avid euchre player and enjoyed traveling all over the United States, Canada and Europe. She was a wonderful, God- fearing woman and will be missed by her family and friends. Pearl is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Rev. Walter) Schmidt; grandchildren, Walter N. (Heather) Schmidt and Rev. Timothy (Elizabeth) Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Wally Schmidt, Anna Schmidt, Aaron Schmidt, Sophia Schmidt and Nathan Schmidt; and sisters, Ruth Kark and Virginia McClelland. Pearl was predeceased by her 1st husband, Norman Engelbrecht; 2nd husband, Luke Fay; and brothers-in-law, Arnold Kark and Alvin McClelland. A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17051 24 Mile Road, Macomb Township with Rev. Kenneth Wagener officiating. Private burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Hauss Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank (north of 21 Mile), Macomb Township and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
