A recent survey of the Baby Boomer generation showed that one of their biggest fears is the possibility of losing their mental capacity as they age.

It is a fact that as we age our minds don't perform the way they used to. By the time we reach 45 to 50, the nerve cells in our brains become weak from exhaustion and fatigue. Some of the signs of mental exhaustion and fatigue are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated or stressed out, and being forgetful or easily distracted. Those symptoms often lead to anxiety, depression, dementia and Alzheimer's. These illnesses can be slowed if people would give importance to brain fitness.

Would you like to learn how you can improve your brain fitness as you age? Join Dr. Jane Stewart on Thursday, October 21 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM in the Friends Auditorium as she demonstrates her OPTIMINDS© Brain Fitness Program.

Registration is requested. To register, call the Adult Reference Desk at 248-246-3727 or go to ropl.org for additional information. For more information about OPTIMINDS, visit their website.
