The Library will offer a summer reading program for adults as well. You'll be able to sign up for the adult program on the same day that children and teens are registering. Reading a variety of books or listening to audio books or Playaways will enable adults to enter our gift raffles. Numerous bookmarks and reading lists will be available, whether you are reading to "water your mind" by learning something new and expanding your horizons, or if you're sampling a fun beach read.
Among the programs featuring our adult summer reading theme will be a Monday, October 4 visit from Michigan Notable Book Author Jeff Alexander, who will discuss his 2010 book Pandora's Locks: The Opening of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway, which examines the building of the seaway and its environmental impact on the entire Great Lakes region, including the introduction of invasive marine species. If you are concerned about Michigan's natural environment, you will not want to miss Alexander's 7:00 PM talk in the Friends Auditorium. He will sell and sign copies of his timely, well-reviewed book.
