ROPL has converted to a new and improved library card. From four design details in the stairway mural the community selected one card design. Of 1104 votes, the "Butterfly Book" design detail was selected with 450 votes. Treasure Chest was a close second at 440 votes.
Why a New Card?
- Better quality card stock, bar codes that don't rub off as easily and key fobs that don't break off key rings as easily will make you much happier with this new card.
- Employees estimate that 30% to 50% of users ask them to look up their card numbers because they don't have their cards with them. The Library needs to recapture this staff time for better service. With a gorgeous and stronger new card we expect you will never want to be without it.
Community Selected the Design - between Memorial Day and Independence Day the Library received 1104 votes both online and in the Library with paper ballots. Votes were tallied on July 6th and the selected design is "Butterfly Book".
Use Your Card - at the self check-out machines for faster service, in the computer labs and to access wireless internet, for online access to Library purchased online information resources and for online access to your borrowing account from home. With the key fob, you will always have a back-up card.
September 1st Launch - The new card will be introduced on September 1st - just in time for National Library Card Month. On the same day, the library will implement the new policy requiring possession of your card to transact library business.
We hope this translates into shorter lines, faster checkout, improved use and portability with the most valuable card you'll carry with you.
