Playaway is a simple way to listen to audio on the go. Each Playaway is an MP3 player with the audio book pre-loaded on it. No cassettes, no CDs, no downloads. Each ultra-portable Playaway weighs only two ounces and has a universal jack that works with almost any type of headphone or mobility accessory. Just add a AAA battery, plug in your earbuds, and enjoy.

For what we expect will be a very popular but limited resource, Playaways may be borrowed for 3 weeks, they cannot be renewed and there is a $1 per day overdue charge. Only two may be borrowed at a time; hold privileges are limited to Royal Oak residents.
- Each Playaway holds an entire audiobook, regardless of length. Play time depends on the length of the title and can range from 25 minutes to 80+ hours.
- Using only a few buttons, a listener can easily navigate back and forth through a chapter, adjust volume up and down, and even alter the speed of a narrator's voice.
- Playaway has an automatic bookmark feature that remembers where you stopped listening and resumes at that point when turned on again.
- Listen to a Playaway in your car! Just plug a wireless FM transmitter into the headphone jack of the Playaway, and tune your car radio to the specified channel.
