Betty Segolund, 85, a longtime resident of Clawson, died April 9, 2008, at Pine Ridge Senior Apartments in Sterling Heights. She was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Truro, Cornwell, England. Mrs. Segolund was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a former president of ECW, and a member of the Altar Guild and the St. Andrew Quilting Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, crafts, needlework, playing cards, going to the casinos and especially loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Segolund is survived by her daughters, Carol (Jack) Mefford and Janice (John) Kreger; grandchildren Can (Daniel) Heini, Kelly (Timothy) Hamrick, Elizabeth (Richard) Scalzi, Jack (Heather) Mefford and Jennifer (Brad) Jahner; 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings Thomas (Darlene) Powell, Hilda (Jesse) Weaver and Joseph (Mary) Powell. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter "Scow" Segolund; and her brother, William (Patricia) Powell. A memorial gathering Saturday, 3-8 p.m., will be at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks. Sunday's memorial service, 2 p.m., will be at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 340 N. Main St., Clawson, with interment at St. Andrew Memorial Garden, Clawson. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Episcopal Church.
