Charlton Schoeffler, 91, a resident of Oak Park for 60 years, formerly of Albany, N.Y., died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at his home in Oak Park. He was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Albany, N.Y. Mr. Schoeffler earned his master's degree from Wayne State University and his doctorate from the University of Illinois. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ferndale. Mr. Schoeffler is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Ashton) Schoeffler, whom he married Sept. 19, 1942; daughter, Margaret (Pierce) Periard of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Stanley Paul Schoeffler. Visitation Thursday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., will be at Spaulding & Curtin Funeral Home, 500 W. Nine Mile, Ferndale. Mr. Schoeffler will lie in state Friday, 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service, at First Baptist Church, Ferndale. Burial at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley.
