Richard Russel Rogers, 84, of Mackinaw City since 1983, formerly of Royal Oak, died April 11, 2008, in Southfield. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane. He was a University of Michigan graduate and served as a gunnery officer aboard the U.S.S. Guadalcanal during World War II. He retired from Ford Tractor Company, where he spent 32 years forecasting and analyzing tractor sales. He was an active volunteer within Royal Oak, having served as president of little league football and baseball. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed playing golf with his family. Surviving are children Richard (Heidi) Rogers Jr. of Warren, James (Barb) Rogers of Royal Oak, Jeffrey (Bobbi) Rogers of Wixom, Greg Rogers of Warren, Ginny (Russ) Rambeau of Royal Oak and Bob Rogers of Royal Oak; sister-in-law Joan Ellis of Wauwatosa, Wis.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
