Donald Diegel, 83, of Sterling Heights, formerly of Clawson and Marysville, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Martha T. Berry in Mt. Clemens. He was born Aug. 30,1924, in Detroit. Mr. Diegel was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Clawson DPW after 23 years of service. He enjoyed Clawson Friends of Lapper Dinner and Dance Club and sports, especially golf. Mr. Diegel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise; children, Marcia Cole, Therese (Rick) Riegler, Patricia Diegel, Michael (Ronda) Diegel and James Diegel; grandchildren, Dana Cole and Lindsay Cole; great-grandson, Aidan; sister, Nancy Taylor; and sister-in-law„ Barbara Diegel. He was predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Anna Diegel; and brother Kenneth Diegel. Visitation is Sunday from 2-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., Clawson. Mr. Diegel will lie in state Monday, 9:30 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Mass is celebrated at Guardian Angles Catholic Church. Burial will be at White Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Macomb/Oakland Regional Center. Online condolences may be offered at www.gramerfuneralhome.com.
