Irving Wellington "Doc" Brandt, 97, of Grand Rapids, died Feb. 24, 2008. He was born Sept. 19, 1910, in Vulcan, Mich. Mr. Brandt attended Asbury College, Ky., before graduating in 1934 from the University of Michigan. He retired in 1976 as manager of general accounting from Ford Motor Company. Mr. Brandt is survived by his children, Kathleen S. (Andrew) Morrow, Dr. Carl P. (Jeanann) Brandt, Sarah M. (Daniel) Tracy, and Martha H. (Jeffrey) Pollock; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Patterson of Royal Oak; and his brothers Leslie Arthur and Robert Elmore. A memorial service Saturday, 11 a.m., will be at Porter Hills Presbyterian Village Meeting House, 3600 Fulton, Grand Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolence Fund of Porter Hills Presbyterian Village, the First United Methodist Church of Grand Rapids, or the Leland Community Church of Leland, Mich.
