Virginia E. Hawkins age 93 a longtime resident of Ferndale died Wednesday September 21 2011 in Royal Oak. She was born February 19 1918 in Hensley W. Va. to Dock and Sarah England. Mrs. Hawkins was a Registered Nurse in the U.S. Army during WWII; she was part of the campaign in Normandy France. Survived by sons Richard (Sherry) and Malcolm (Kathy); three grandchildren; one great- grandchild and siblings Curtis (Margie) England and Herman (Jackie) England. Predeceased by husband Claude and siblings Harold England and Maxine Hill. Visitation Sunday 3-8 p.m. at Spaulding and Curtin Funeral Directors Ferndale and Monday 10:30 a.m. until funeral service 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ferndale.
