Katherine Lynne Mester, formerly of Royal Oak, born Oct. 10, 1970, died in a fatal car accident in Rhinebeck, N.Y. Her daughter, Isabel Katherine, was born following the auto accident. Katherine taught Pilates in the Hudson Valley, N.Y., area. She received her A.A. in Liberal Arts from Dutchess Community College and was completing her B.A. at SUNY New Paltz. She worked for many years in the performing arts in New York City. After graduating from CranbrookKingswood Academy, she completed studies in acting from the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York. She was a member of Actor's Equity and performed for Williamstown Summer Theater Stock in Williamstown, Mass. Her many stage credits included "Beelutherhatchee," "The Boy Friend," "Marat/Sade," "Of Mice and Men," and "The Visit." She was especially glad to return to Michigan to perform in "Beelutherhatchee" at Meadowbrook Theater at Oakland University. Katherine is survived by her loving husband, Professor Joseph Luzzi of Bard College, Annandale, N.Y.; her parents, the Honorable Fred M. and Lynne M. Mester of Bloomfield Hills; siblings, David and Jeneth Mester, and Karen Mester of Bloomfield Hills. Visitation is 58 p.m. today and 28 p.m. Thursday at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 Wit Mile, Royal Oak; further visitation Friday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak; in lieu of flowers, donations to the Katherine and Isabel Mester Educational Foundation appreciated; share your memories at www.sullivanfuneraldirectors.com.
