Edward Allen Rock, 78, of Dayton, Tenn., died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was born in Troy, to the late Herbert and Jessie (Mahaffey) Rock. He lived in Troy until 1985 when he retired as vice president of Comerica Bank. In Troy, he was a member of the Troy Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and minister of music. In 2002, he moved to Dayton, Tenn., where he was a member of the New Union Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Frances (Cloninger) Rock of Dayton; children, Janet Miller of Troy, Linda Hamilton of Lake Orion, Kathy Ruggiero of Sebring, Fla., David Rock of Sylvania, Ohio, Chris Morgan of South Carolina, Judy Bennett of Texas, Bobi Vieira, and Robert Benson, both of California; sister, Irene Heiber of Michigan, and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tenn. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.
