Leonard Karlow died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans' Home in Port Charlotte, Fla. Mr. Karlow was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from high school in Hamtramck. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with campaigns in Africa, Sicily, Italy and into Germany and France. Mr. Karlow retired following a career as a police officer and firefighter. He resided for more than 20 years in Venice, Fla. Mr. Karlow was a husband to Hellen; father to Gregory and Robin; grandfather to Heather and Jeanie; and brother of Cyril Karlowicz. The family will have a memorial service in 2008 at the new Veteran's Cemetery in Sarasota County Fla.
