Alexander D. McDonald, 77, of Walled Lake, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007. Mr. McDonald was a graduate of the Palestrina Institute of Ecclesiastical Music; received bachelor's and master's degrees from Wayne State University; and coctoral studies at the University of Michigan. He was a Fine Arts faculty member at Marian College, Indianapolis, Ind., and the Detroit Institute of Technology. Mr. McDonald was an organist and choir director at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, St. Alexander Catholic Church in Farmington and St. William Catholic Church in Walled Lake. He lent his lyric baritone voice to many religious services and special occasions while meeting the challenges of living with diabetes for 64 years. Mr. McDonald was the beloved husband of 38 years to Mary Aim McDonald; loving brother of Eileen (James) Caton and the late Hugh McDonald; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
