Harold Franklin Burden, 85, formerly of Royal Oak, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, in West Bloomfield Township. Mr. Burden was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Flint. He moved to Royal Oak in 1950, where he lived until spring 2007. He was preceded in death in 1995 by his wife of 47 years, Gladys Irene Martin. He is survived by his loving companion Jacqueline Crocker and "the kids," Ken and Jan Coury; children, Gale and Ralph Gartner, and Michelle and Ryan Robinson; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and his nieces and a nephew. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at the Detroit Gun Club, 2775 Oakley Park Road, Walled Lake. Harold was a graduate of the General Motors Institute of Technology. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines in the Pacific in WWII. Employed by Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. before starting his own business H. Burden Services, and was a gunsmith. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed flying, race car driving, skeet, clay and target shooting, boating, motorcycling and baseball. He was a member of many organizations including: The Detroit Gun Club, the Macomb Gun Club and the Black Hawk Indian Skeet Club.
