Elaine E. Kangas, 86, of Pleasant Ridge, formerly of Dollar Bay, and Avon Park, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Pleasant Ridge. She was born July 17, 1921, in Calumet, to Henry and Lydia Kaarlela. Mrs. Kangas was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills and enjoyed being a part of the community choir in Avon Park, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband, William, whom she married June 28, 1941, in Calumet. She is survived by her children, Lawrence of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Susan (Thomas) Rowe of Pleasant Ridge; grandchildren, Jennifer Rowe, Jacob Kangas, Kristopher (Karyn) Rowe, Renee Kangas, Jason Rowe (Heather Flynn), Trevor Rowe and Lyndsey Kangas; and siblings, Bernice (Sam) Cota, Irving Kaarlela, Lorraine (James) Blair, Robert (Evelyn) Kaarlela, Gordon Kaarlela, William (Jan) Kaarlela and Joanne (Rudy) Palonen.
