Robert Lee Swayne, 84, of Clarkston, formerly of Detroit, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester. He was born July 10, 1923, in Detroit. Mr. Swayne was a graduate of Cass Tech High School. He later joined the U.S. Army, serving as an M.P. and fought in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge and on Omaha Beach. He was a Past Commander of VFW Post 9222. Mr. Swayne loved to golf, fish, bowl, shoot pool and line dance. He was predeceased by his first wife of 48 years, Elizabeth; his second wife, Mabel; and son, Michael. He is survived by his children, Joanne (Michael) Ponkey, Cheryl (Jerry) GatesBeers, Bobbette (Mark) VanEvery, and Pixie Churchill (Tom Halm); 13 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren.
