Walter "Butch" Rowan, 59, of Warren for seven years, formerly of Royal Oak and Hazel Park, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at home. He was born Sept. 27, 1947, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Mr. Rowan was a letter carrier for the past 26 years with the Troy Post Office. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corp. He loved the outdoors and hunted, golfed and played softball until he was 45. He also wrote poetry and loved University of Michigan football. Mr. Rowan was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Janet Rowan. Surviving are his wife, Nancy E. McFarland whom he married Sept. 22, 1984 in Royal Oak; children, Shelly (Jason) McElroy of Lake Orion, Dawn (David) Benia of Madison Heights, Rachel (David) Cardinali of Warren and Nicholas Rowan of Warren; siblings, Donna Steiner of Hazel Park, Jeanne (Ken) Stack of Stanwood, Michael Rowan of Warren,.Richard (Barbara) Rowan of Columbiaville; grandchildren, Chelsea, Hanna, Miranda, Annabella, Angelina, Greer and Quinn. Visitation, 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W.11 Mile Road, Royal Oak; services, 1 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home with the Rev.
