Rema J. Staples, 80, of Troy, formerly of Madison Heights, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, in Warren. She was born June 28, 1927, in Benton, Ky. Mrs. Staples was a charter member of Madison Heights Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served as general secretary for more than 25 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing and being a homemaker. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Thomas R. Staples, whom she wed Dec. 23, 1949, in Highland Park; children, Ric (Sandra) Staples and Greg (Terry) Staples; grandchildren, Amanda (Tony) Black, Eric W. Staples and Nicole (Kevin) Wieneki; great-grandson, Tyler Black; sister, Sylvia Jeffcoat and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; Rollie and Elsie, and brothers Joe, Laymond and Virgil.
