Shirley S. Vail, Ph.D., 86, of Royal Oak, formerly of West Bloomfield, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at Alexander Mercy Living Center, Royal Oak. She was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Boise, Idaho. Mrs. Vail worked at Wayne County General (Eloise) from 1968 to 1988. She retired from private practice in 1992. She was predeceased by husband, Hugh Vail, in February 1992. The couple wed July 24, 1943, in Detroit. She was also predeceased by son, Jeffrey Vail. Surviving are children, Roger (Lucy) Vail, Linda (Theodore) Roman; grandchildren, Sandra (Michael) Rome, Rebecca, Victoria, Pamela, J.J. Veronica and Eli.
