Robert C. Sheibels, 87, a longtime resident of Royal Oak, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He was born April 18, 1920, in Detroit. Mr. Sheibels graduated from Eastern High School in Detroit and married Esther Jozwick on July 3, 1946, in Detroit. He was a dedicated worker at the Detroit News as a circulation manager for 47 years. He also was an usher at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Birmingham and a longtime tenor for the Southeastern Michigan Barbershop Quartet. Mr. Sheibels was a former member of the Royal Oak Lions Club. He was an avid Detroit sports fan who especially enjoyed bowling. Surviving are his beloved wife, Esther; sons, James (Barbara), Paul (Jody) and Ken Sheibels; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and his brother, Wilbur (Phyllis) Sheibels. Visitation, 4-9 p.m. Thursday at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14 and 15 Mile roads), Clawson; funeral, 10 a.m. Friday at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2225 E. 14 Mile Road, Birmingham; friends may visit at church beginning at 9 a.m.; interment, Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley; memorials, American Heart and Stroke Association, Memorials and Tributes Program, Department 77-3968, Chicago, IL 60678-3968.
