Dorothy H. Schroeder, 76, of Royal Oak for 46 years, died Monday, July 30, 2007 at home. She was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Detroit. Mrs. Schroeder grew up in Detroit. She was once employed by Browns Creamery and Mary Grove College. She was very involved with her grandchildren when they were growing up. She enjoyed cooking and her specialty was Easter ham and cheese potatoes. She always met house guests with a cup of coffee or a pitcher of iced tea. She loved her Precious Moments collection. Small in stature and large on personality, Mrs. Schroeder was a tough person and beat breast cancer seven years ago. She had to endure a lot of physical pain over the past year when cancer returned. Mrs. Schroeder was the beloved wife of Leroy for 55 years; dear mother of Ronald (Kathy), David (Susan) and Daniel (Candy); grandmother of Carla, Megan, Lauren, Nicholas, Amanda and Justin; and sister of Dolores Kucia and Patricia Gephart. Visitation, 3-8 p.m. today at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward, Royal Oak ; funeral service, 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home; memorial tributes to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Mack Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201.
