William L. Basey age 77 passed away at his residence in Southfield on Saturday January 1 2011. Mr. Basey was born in Detroit Michigan on August 16 1933. He was the son of William and Clodah Basey. Mr. Basey grew up in Royal Oak and graduated from Royal Oak Dondero High School. He studied accounting at Bowling Green University in Bowling Green Ohio and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Basey married Sara J. Swarthout in Royal Oak Michigan on February 23 1957 while on a three day military pass. Mr. Basey had a work ethic that was second to none and he was employed by Excellis Inc. in Warren Michigan and worked up until the time of his death. He loved his family gardening fishing animals and boating. Surviving is his wife Sara of 53 years; children Janet (Craig Danzig) Basey Laura (Peter) Boettcher and Daniel (Kristin) Basey; grandchildren Steven Michelle Joel Troy and two more on the way; and a great-granddaughter Haven; siblings Margaret Ilene Jean and Tom. Visitation at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home 2125 Twelve Mile Road (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue) Berkley 3-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
