Thayer, Patricia Lee, August 25, 1935 - November 3, 2014, age 79, devoted and cherished wife, supportive and loving mom, sweetest grandma, beloved sister, and truest friend, passed away on November 3, 2014. Pat was born in Detroit, Michigan to John and Helen Cocash and was the oldest of four daughters. Pat met her one true enchanted love, Theodore, as a young girl and they married in St. Ambrose Church in 1953. Pat and Ted moved to their life long home in St. Clair Shores and raised six children and enjoyed spending all of their time with the family whether it was the usual dinner on Sunday afternoon or hosting the extended family over for pool parties back in the day. Her true passion was being a great mom and spending time with her grandchildren as if they were her own. Pat and Ted enjoyed a wonderful 59 year marriage together full of love, laughter, and dedication until Ted’s death in 2012. Pat enjoyed finding treasures at garage sales when she was younger but gave that up for the sport of bingo. She also spent much of her time with two great friends, Bev and Kay, and the three of them enjoyed playing cards for hours on end as often as they could. Pat’s favorite pastime though was traveling. She never said no to a weekend away or just going for a long car drive. Many great memories were made loading up the car and heading up north to the cabin in Baraga, or spending time in Traverse City, St. Ignace, or Mackinac Island. It didn’t matter where she went, as long as her family was doing it with her. She also loved Florida and through the years had visited the Keys, Tampa, and Disney World several times over with her children. Pat and Ted also took many road trips to far away places with their life long friends, Bob and Fern. But what Pat loved most were shopping weekends away to New York, Chicago, Indiana, and Niagara Falls with her girls. They will always remember Pat’s famous shopping quote “oh just buy it” when deciding whether to purchase just about anything. Pat leaves behind her six children who will miss her each and every day for the rest of their lives, Debbie (Russ), Suzanne (Mike), Sherri, TJ (Jeri), Kelly (Ray), and the late Richard, as well as 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will always remember their grandma as sweet and fun and who always had open arms and lots of time and love to give. She and Papa always made sure that the kids knew that they had another place to call home. Pat’s children find peace in knowing that she and dad are now reunited again and continuing their love story together for all eternity. As per Pat’s wishes, a graveside eulogy will take place at Resurrection Cemetery on Saturday, November 8th at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon afterwards to celebrate her life. All of her family, friends, and neighbors are encouraged to attend.Published in Daily Tribune on Nov. 6, 2014+Read More Share Listen to Obituary Remember Share a message, photo, or video below View all messages 10 "My condolences go out to the entire Thayer family.
