Neipling, Joseph Elmer; of Pontiac; died December 7, 2014; at the age of 92. Joe was the loving husband of Eva Barbara Neipling (nee Crawford) for 65 years; beloved father of Nancy (Robert) Reed of CA, Daniel (Debbie) Neipling of FL, and Janice Driver of Waterford; cherished grandfather of six and great grandfather of six; and dear brother of Ann Neipling of Farmington Hills. Joe is also survived many nieces and nephews. Joe attended U of M and WSU where he earned his degree Engineering. He worked as the City Engineer for Pontiac until 1953 when he was promoted to City Manager. Upon retirement, he continued to consult for the City as needed. Joe was a veteran of the US Air Force having served with the 449th bomber B-24 Liberators in Italy as a navigator. He was involved in the bombing Paest oil fields and returned unharmed after 50 missions. He was lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac, 90 Wayne, with Dr. Richard Griffith, officiating. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Arrangements were entrusted to HUNTOON FUNERAL HOME in Pontiac.
