MATHEIS, BERNICE CLAIRE; of Waterford; passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 18, 2014; at 78 years of age. Beloved wife, partner and companion of Ken, Sr. “Hank” for 58 years; cherished mother of Patricia (Dr. Michael) Kubinski, Kenneth (Diane) Matheis and John (Kristin) Matheis; dear loving grandmother of Claire (Todd) Addis, Joseph Kubinski, Morganne, Marie, Dylan and Kaelyn Matheis; sister of Herman (the late Cathy) Smith, Leroy “Butch” Smith and Carol (Robert) Dabak and their families. Bernice was a kind gentle soul and was loved by many. She was instrumental in the founding of the family business in 1983, Complete Automation. Bernice also had her own career with Al Dittrich Olds as chief financial officer and personal assistant for Al Dittrich for 23 years. She was active with Lake Oakland Heights Association. Bernice had a very active social life with a large circle of friends she loved in Michigan and Florida. Funeral Mass Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Church, 2700 Waldon Rd., Lake Orion.
