Lasswell, Harry Allen; age 84; passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 18, 2014. Harry had been living in Phoenix, Arizona, but had also been a long-time resident of Las Vegas, NV, South Bend, Indiana and Michigan. Born December 20, 1929, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he was the son of the late Laura Lee (Thornton) and Harry Bertle Lasswell. He is preceded in death by his wife, Earla Margaret (Plautz) Lasswell, his sister, Joyce Jackson and his step sister Mary Lou Braman. Harry retired after many successful years as a salesman of mobile communication devices. He was an exceptional salesman receiving many accolades and trophies for his efforts working for RCA then General Electric. His career in sales saw him move from Clark Lake, Michigan to South Bend, Indiana, to Scottsdale, Arizona, and finally Las Vegas, Nevada. Harry served our country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he fought on the front lines. He was honored with the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. He served from 1948 to 1952 and was honorably discharged. Harry then served as a 1st Lieutenant for the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as an Electrical Installation Technician. Harry had a lifelong passion for gardening. As a young man he enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sitting and drinking many a cold beer with family and friends. He is survived by his brother, Robert Edward Lasswell of Philadelphia, PA, and his sister, JoAnne Riley of Riverside, CA. Harry married Earla Margaret Plautz in Pontiac, Michigan in 1957 and they raised 6 children. He will be greatly missed by all his children, step-son, Joseph Harold LaBeau of Las Vegas, NV, daughter, Carole Ann Krelow (John) of Butler, PA, daughter, Cathleen (Katie) Allison Gullette (Richard) of Phoenix, AZ, son, Anthony (Tony) Allen Lasswell (Donna Barlow) of South Bend, IN, daughter, Amy Aileen Ernsperger (Lynn) of Niles, MI and daughter Renee Alane Cason (Timothy) of West Lafayette, IN. He will also be missed by his nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
