Panks, Madelyn (Bochnig); age 81; died October 23, 2014; at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson SC, of lung cancer. Madelyn was born December 16, 1932, the first child of George and Nora Payette, grew up in Pontiac, Michigan, and attended St. Fred’s High School. She was married to her classmate, Paul Bochnig, from 1952-1980. She married Jim Panks in 1983 and they retired to South Carolina in 1996. Madelyn worked as executive secretary for Archambeau Distributing in Waterford for 15 years and later for the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She is survived by husband, Jim Panks; daughters, Paulette (Tom) Sharkey and Mary Jane (Art) Arndt; son, George (Melissa) Bochnig; brother, Brian Payette; sisters, Judie (Ross) Vartian and June Ritchie; granddaughter, Jessa Sharkey. She was preceded in death by brother, Michael Payette. A luncheon and celebration of Madelyn’s life will take place on Sunday, December 14, 2014, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Gino’s Restaurant in Keego Harbor.
