Diehl (nee Kastner), Lois Ann, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2015. She was born March 25, 1926 in Detroit to Joseph and Florence (Roberts) Kastner. Lois attended Girl’s Catholic Central High School in Detroit and graduated from the University of Detroit in 1948. She married Harry T. Diehl on June 19, 1948. They remained devoted to one another until Harry’s sudden death in 1983. Lois and Harry were proud citizens of Mount Clemens and were actively involved in the community, with Harry serving as Mayor from 1957-61. Their oldest son, Harry T. Diehl, Jr. later served as mayor, as well. Lois was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and St. Mary’s Mother’s Club. While raising five children, Lois began a teaching career at St. Louis School in 1962. She began teaching at St. Mary School in 1965, where she taught for the next 25 years. Lois earned a master’s degree in education from Marygrove College in 1972. She taught over 2,000 students, some of whom were her own children and grandchildren. After retiring, Lois and several dear friends traveled extensively, visiting China, Russia, Ireland, England, much of Europe, the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Alaska, and Hawaii. Lois was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and ‘G.G.’ to her family. She will be missed by everyone. She is survived by her children, Harry Jr., David (Cathy), Noel (Harry) Reynolds, Beth (Thomas) Colosimo, and Maureen; grandchildren, Kelly (Mark) Gibson, Adam (Katharine) Diehl, James (Lisa) Komoroski, Paul (Jodi) Diehl, Lesley (Kyle) Richardson, Dominic Colosimo, Holly Diehl, Bridget Colosimo; stepgrandchildren, Jennifer (Edward) Hansen, and Christopher (Luz) Reynolds. Also, great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Jack, Andrew, and Avery and sister-in-law, Gertrude Kastner. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry T. Diehl; siblings, Catherine Goodman and Edward Kastner. Visitation Today (Sunday) 2-8 p.m. with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main, Mount Clemens. Funeral services on Monday 11:30 a.m. (instate 11 a.m.) at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market, Mount Clemens, Mich. Burial St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Clinton Township.
