Calhoun, William David “Bill”; age 74; of Hessel, Michigan, formerly of Commerce Township, Michigan; entered eternal life April 21, 2015. He was born July 30, 1940, in Highland Park, Michigan, to James Robinson Calhoun and Catherine (Kilpatrick) Calhoun. During his 30 year career in public education, the last 25 years as an administrator at Walled Lake Western High School, Bill found the opportunity to make a positive influence in his many students’ lives and futures the most rewarding part of his job. Upon retiring, Bill relocated to the Les Cheneaux Island Area and enjoyed the quiet and slower pace, boating, spending time in the woods, and enjoying the company of many friends. Bill is survived by his sons, Curt (Connie) Calhoun of Oakdale, California and James (Jennifer) Calhoun of Davisburg, Michigan; grandchildren, Corrine, Christopher, Caden, and Kylie Calhoun; and loving friend and companion, Margaret “Peg” Patrick. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Joan R. Calhoun in 1997; daughter, Elaine M. Calhoun; and brother, Richard Calhoun. Bill’s strength and courage made him a hero to all who knew and loved him. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville, Michigan.
