Unfortunately, the Royal Oak Public Library facility must be closed for the next few days to repair ceiling tiles. The building may reopen early next week. Please use the book drops at the South Entrance or the curb-side book drop on the 11-Mile Road side of the building.
Full assessment has not been completed and we won’t know until this weekend when the work can be done. We are told it is likely that it can be completed within a normal work day, however. The timing is dependent upon accumulation of tools and supplies required for the job.
One large ceiling tile fell Thursday evening, May 8th to the floor outside a study room door, near the adult computer lab. Thankfully no one was injured. No other tiles have fallen but as a precaution the building is cleared until all of the large ceiling tiles on the upper level have been anchored and we are assured the risk is eliminated.
Check back to this site for details as they emerge and, please accept our apologies for your inconvenience.
