Ficek, Josephine “Jo” Frances, age 91, a resident of Sterling Heights, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 13, 2015. She was born in Lumberport, West Virginia on December 13, 1923 to the late Sam and Macie Toquinto. Josephine loved children and cooking. She was a homemaker her entire married life, raising their six daughters and was “Nana” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many neighborhood children she babysat for. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ray Ficek; their six daughters, Pat (Clark) Beebe of Clarkston, Linda (Tom) Terzo of Fort Myers, Fla., Judy (Bob) Brinker of Sterling Heights, Janet (Bill) Brutyn of Sterling Heights, Joyce Rund of Casselberry, Fla. and Kathy Bates of Sterling Heights, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brother, Jim (Beth) Toquinto of West Chester, Pa., as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Angel Wash (1994) and Kathleen Rexroad (2000). Funeral arrangements were private. A celebration of Josephine’s life will be held as a reunion memorial at a later date.
